the camera
1. the first person to invent the camera was Johann Schulze in 1727. the first film camera was created by George Eastman, who founded Kodak. The first cameras with film were produced in the 1890s. However, in the early years the films could not be bought separately and one had to send the camera to Kodak to have the film removed, processed, printed - and to have a new film put in.

2. out of all three, the camera, film, and chemicals, the chemicals were developed first. In 1727 Johann Schulze heated some silver nitrate in an oven, and discovering that it did not darken was able to eliminate heat as the darkening agent. Having noticed that a glass jar containing a particular chemical mixture changed colour on one side - that facing the window, he applied paper stencils to a bottle containing silver nitrate and chalk, discovering that where the substance was not exposed to light it remained white.

3. this is a picture of the WORLD'S first camera (supposedly)

The early camera that first became a phenomenon was a little more than a pinhole camera and can be traced back to 1558. It was called the Camera Obscura. The Camera Obscura was seen as a drawing tool for a clearer and realistic portrayal of objects.

4. in 1888 George Eastman created the company Kodak. The camera owner could send in the camera with a processing fee of $10. The company would develop the film, print 100 pictures, and also send along a new roll of 100-exposures film. Eastman introduced the Brownie in 1900 at a price of just $1, which was the common camera used in households.

5. the f-stop is the focal length. Focal length is the distance from your camera’s sensor to the focusing element in your lens and aperture is the size of the hole that allows light in. it is an aspect of exposure control.

6. the shutter speed controls the lens size to make bigger or smaller values and timing (open and close) of the camera's shutter curtain - BOTH perform the tasks of regulating the amount of light entering the camera and expose onto the film.

7. A light meter is a device used to measure the amount of light. In photography, a light meter is often used to determine the proper exposure for a photograph, which allows the photographer to determine which shutter speed and f-stop should be selected for an optimum exposure, given a certain lighting situation and film speed.

8. In 1975, Kodak released the world’s first digital camera prototype, a clunky-looking device that used casette tapes as the medium to store pictures. Each photo took 23 seconds to snap, producing a 100-line black and white image that could only be displayed on a television set.

history

1. In the first year of the 20th century, 1901 George Eastman capitalized on his own technology and created the Brownie. In 1914, Oskar Barnack experimented with 35mm film that was used to create movies and films. While many companies were trying to create better technology for their cameras, a new type of camera jetted onto the scene in 1948. The Polaroid was an instant camera that attracted many consumers because of its instant gratification capabilities. In recent years, the digital technology even spilled over into the camera industry. Even though the predecessors of today’s digital cameras began in 1972 with a Texas Instruments prototype, the true digital camera as we know them today was not produced until 1988 in Japan and later in 1991 in the United States.

2. The branch of the visual arts known as fine art photography is a twentieth century medium enabling the artist to capture or create images on photographic film as an alternative to the traditional 2-D media of canvas, paper or board.
